A recent report released by the Energy Technologies Institute states that biomass combined with carbon capture and storage (CCS) remains the only credible route to deliver negative emissions to help meet the U.K.’s 2050 climate change targets.
Comment: A link between the UK Energy policy and Agriculture is definitely needed. We are working on the potential to extract nanocellulose from Miscanthus (which besides many other uses in materials, is non toxic and could potentially be used as a carbohydrate replacement in foods). The residual from the extraction process could be a viable fuel for providing energy to biomass burners.
